The Institute for Asthma and Allergy was initiated with a firm commitment toward research. Our research protocols are multi-center studies related to asthma, allergy, sinusitis, emphysema, hereditary angloedema, and chronic bronchitis. They focus on investigational and/or currently marketed medications. Study related procedures and medications are normally provided free of charge. All patients must make visits to our Wheaton, MD office. Patients usually receive a stipend for their participation. If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more about research please look at our current studies listed below.

- Hereditary Angioedema -
Have you ever experienced severe and unexplained episodes of swelling and pain that lasted several hours or even days?
Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is a rare and often misdiagnosed genetic disorder that causes swelling in the hands, feet, face, throat or intestinal tract. The attacks can be disabling or life-threatening.
Doctors in your area are studying an investigational therapy for HAE. To be eligible, patients must be 10 years old or older and have a documented diagnosis of herditary angioedema.
