The Institute for Asthma and Allergy was initiated with a firm commitment toward research. Our research protocols are multi-center studies related to asthma, allergy, sinusitis, emphysema, hereditary angloedema, and chronic bronchitis. They focus on investigational and/or currently marketed medications. Study related procedures and medications are normally provided free of charge. All patients must make visits to our Wheaton, MD office. Patients usually receive a stipend for their participation. If you are using a daily inhaled medication for asthma, you may be eligible for a 10 visit, year long research study of an investigational medication for asthma.

Have you ever experienced severe and unexplained episodes of swelling and pain that lasted several hours or even days?
Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is a rare and often misdiagnosed genetic disorder that causes swelling in the hands, feet, face, throat or intestinal tract. The attacks can be disabling or life-threatening.
Doctors in your area are studying an investigational therapy for HAE. To be eligible, patients must be 10 years old or older and have a documented diagnosis of herditary angioedema.
